ArcMap now ship with a CD called Street Map USA. It contains an extraordinarily detailed dataset of roads for the entire country.

On behalf of a student I forward the following question to you:

Hello All,
I am searching for North America or US-wide GIS road data that includes
highways and secondary roads. TIGER files of road data are available at
the county level, but I need U.S. nationwide coverage for my research.
Also, I was unable to find these data through GAP.
Do these road coverages exist? If so, where can I find them, e.g. for a
ArcView format?
